Dr. Donald A Tyndall
M.S.P.H. in Environmental Sciences and Engineering in 1984 specializing in Health Physics and his Ph.D. in 1988 in Radiation Biophysics from the UNC Gillings School of Public Health.
Dr. Tyndall was the Director of Radiology for the School of Dentistry from 1988 to 2019. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology and was a Director and past President from 1995-1999. Dr.Tyndall has twice served as the Councillor for Scientific Affairs and Public Policy of the Executive Council of the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology.
In addition, he is a fellow in the International College of Dentists. In addition, Dr. Tyndall is on the CDOCS faculty as an oral and maxillofacial radiology educator.
His research interests include 3-D digital imaging, 2D and 3D caries detection, applications of CBCT in dentistry and artificial intelligence in radiologic diagnosis. His work as author or co-author has been published in more than 125 journal articles.
